Asthma in kids is not very different from that in adults. For kids, it becomes difficult to manage asthma as they have their unique challenges. Asthma in childhood can lead to symptoms that interfere with their daily routine (play, school, sports, and sleep).

The lungs and the airways in kids get easily inflamed when they get exposed to certain asthma triggers like pollens, seasonal cold, pollutants, or when they catch a respiratory tract infection. Severe and uncontrolled asthma in children can lead to dangerous asthma attacks and could be damaging to the overall health.

A few of the symptoms seen in children with asthma are:

· Shortening of the breath

· Tightness in the chest

· Chest congestion

· Wheezing or whistling sound when breathing

· Frequent episodes of coughing

The symptoms if they get worst or get severe need a doctor’s attention. These symptoms majorly interfere with their daily routine and can lead to:

· Disturbed sleep

· Delayed recovery from a respiratory infection

· Difficulty in breathing while doing physical activities

· Constant fatigue

· Irritation

· Cranky behaviour

· Lethargy

Asthma in kids generally continues to adulthood and cannot be completely cured. But it’s important to manage it with appropriate treatment to avoid the worsening of the condition.
