“I consider myself a loudspeaker for highlighting other people’s causes.”

Actor, producer, and a doting new mom—Swara Bhasker successfully dons many hats. Her stellar performances in acclaimed independent films like ‘Veerey De Wedding,’ ‘Tanu Weds Manu,’ and ‘Nil Battay Sannata‘ have not only earned international acclaim but also garnered her numerous accolades. Swara has received Screen Awards in her collection and has been honoured with four Filmfare nominations, solidifying her position as a distinguished talent in the film industry.

As the daughter of an Indian Navy Officer and a mother who held the esteemed position of a professor specializing in cinema studies, Swara’s upbringing was marked by diverse influences. Born and raised in Delhi, Swara pursued English literature at Miranda House, and later, she attained a Master’s degree in Sociology from Jawaharlal Nehru University.

Swara is frequently recognised as one of the most ‘outspoken’ actresses in Bollywood, fearlessly expressing her opinions and challenging the status quo. In a candid interview with Cosmopolitan India, she shared, “I was raised to ask questions and to be fearless. I believe activism is a positive force, and it’s essential to care about issues beyond one’s personal life.”

Beyond her thriving career as a distinguished actor, Swara Bhasker is also making significant strides as a producer and entrepreneur. In 2019, she co-launched her production venture, Kahaaniwaaley, alongside her brother Ishan Bhasker. Speaking about the vision behind Kahaaniwaaley, Swara stated, “Our aim is to champion compelling scripts and filmmakers with fresh, powerful stories that often struggle to find the right platform for showcasing their brilliance.”

On the personal front, Swara recently welcomed a baby with her husband Fahad Ahmad. She gave birth to her daughter on September 23rd this year. Speaking about motherhood, Swara shared, “It’s a whole new world for me. While childbirth was the hardest thing that I have ever experienced, it was also the most momentous moment of my life. Raabiya is now my number one priority, nothing else matters.”
