Toddlers tend to cry out loud and seem inconsolable when their teeth are starting to come in. You may not be able to remember the kind of pain you endured when your teeth came in but you might remember how it felt when your wisdom teeth were coming in. Painful right? And that was just two new teeth. Now just try to envision an entire set of new teeth coming in. Yes, that is what your child is going through. So how do you help your poor little guy? Read on to find out!

Cold teethers

Cold teethers are ideal in helping to soothe the pain your baby endures when their teeth start coming in. They help to numb the pain and they also aid in the eruption of new baby teeth. Avoid placing these in the freezer as this may cause discomfort to your baby.

Gum massage

After washing your fingers and making sure your fingertips are clean and fingernails trimmed, you can gently massage your baby’s gums. This provides a temporary relief to your baby.

Chilled food

If your baby is on solid food, give them food that is cold so that it is easier to eat and soothing to the mouth. Again, don’t offer frozen food to your baby. Food that has been chilled acts as a superb remedy for teething babies.

Chilled wash cloth

You can give your toddler a chilled wash cloth to chew on to help ease the pain. Simply soak a clean piece of cloth in cold water and offer it to him/her. The coolness of the cloth will help numb the pain and make your baby feel much better.

Teething toys

There are several toys and adorable teethers available in the market that can help distract your baby from the pain. Further, they are perfectly safe to gnaw on and help to soothe the pain.

Chamomile bag

Prepare a mild chamomile tea and cool it down. Pour it into ice cube moulds and pop it in the freezer. Put one or two frozen chamomile tea cubes into a muslin bag and seal it tightly. You can now offer this to your little one. The soothing effect of the chamomile will help reduce your toddler’s suffering.

Try out all of these remedies and let us know how effective each of them was. Do share it with all the parents and kids you know!
