Who doesn’t wish for perfectly healthy, thick, long hair? If you’re someone who’s naturally blessed with it or if you’re working towards making your hair luscious and silky, here are a few tips that will come in handy.

1. Caution – Wet hair

When you’re fresh out of the shower, your wet hair is more fragile and prone to breakage. Handle it with care and do not brush or comb your hair when it’s wet. Even while shampooing your hair, be gentle and do not scrub too hard because this will strip off all the essential oils.

2. Satin Pillow covers

Choosing satin over cotton pillows will prevent hair loss that occurs due to friction. It’s also recommended that you tie your hair in a loose braid or a bun when you go bed. Because sleeping with open hair will result in knots due to constant movements all night.

3. Regular conditioning

If you have dry and frizzy hair, never skip out on conditioning your hair every time you shower. You can also do deep conditioning treatments in your home using avocado, banana, and yogurt once in a week.

4. Avoid styling tools

Using hair styling tools like straighteners and curlers on a regular basis will strip the moisture from your hair.

This will leave your hair looking dull and you might even burn your hair if you do it extremely.

5. Massage time

Oiling your hair on a frequent basis will not only strengthen the roots but will also condition your hair. You can keep it overnight or for an hour or two before you wash it off with a gentle shampoo. Coconut oil, Bhringraj oil, amla oil and badam oil are popular choices.

You can also try hot oil massage by wrapping a towel dipped in hot water around your hair after it’s oiled or by warming the oil before applying it to your hair.

6. Cold over hot

It’s not always possible to take cold showers but you can start by using lukewarm to warm water rather than hot, steaming water. Once you’re done showering, you can rinse your hair with cold water before towel-drying it.

7. Comb it the right way

When you comb or brush your hair, doing it the right way makes all the difference in the world. Make sure to comb it from the ends and then gradually work it up towards the scalp. This will make it easier for you to get rid of knots without much breakage. Wooden combs are a better alternative to plastic ones as they are gentler.
