On Wednesday, Anushka shared photos of Virat and Vamika’s sweet moments from their outing.
Anushka took to Instagram to share a series of photos featuring cricketer-husband Virat and daughter Vamika during their trek. Virat is seen carrying their daughter in a baby carrier on his shoulders while trekking in the hills and the pictures feel like a breath of fresh air; No fancy overseas vacation, just a simple, beautiful time out in nature to bond as a family.
Trekking with toddlers can be a fun and exciting experience for both you and your little ones. However, it can also be challenging, even though Anushka and Virat make it look easy, especially if your child is not used to outdoor activities. But it’s worth the effort because spending time in nature helps toddlers greatly. All you need to do is remember a few tips.
Here are some tips to help you make the most of your trekking adventure with your toddlers.
When selecting a trail, make sure it’s not too difficult and has a clear path. It’s also important to consider the length of the trail, as toddlers tend to get tired quickly and may not want to walk. Choose a trail that will allow you to complete the hike comfortably even if you have to carry your toddler in a baby carrier.
Make sure you pack all the essentials such as food, water, a first-aid kit, extra clothing, diapers, diaper rash cream, wipes, sunscreen etc. for your toddler. It’s also a good idea to bring along a backpack carrier for your child if you’re going on a longer hike.
If possible, start your hike early in the morning when the weather is cooler and your child is well-rested.
Kids need frequent breaks for snacks and water. It’s also a good idea to take small breaks to hydrate yourself and re-energise.
Keep your toddlers engaged during the trek. You can talk about the nature around them and help them identify different plants and animals that you spot along the trek.
Sometimes the weather can be unpredictable, and you should be prepared for times like that. Make sure you have a change of clothes, raincoats, warm clothes, umbrellas and a fold-up tent, extra snacks and water, in case you need to halt somewhere during the trek.
Encourage your child to carry a small backpack with their own essentials, such as a water bottle and snacks. This will help them feel involved and give them a sense of responsibility.
Nature has a powerful impact on the well-being of individuals, especially in early childhood. Spending time in nature helps toddlers develop their sensory skills, emotional regulation, and physical abilities. When toddlers are exposed to natural environments, they have the opportunity to learn and grow in ways that are not possible in a purely indoor setting.
Exposure to nature stimulates all of the senses, including touch, sight, sound, and smell. This helps to develop the child’s sensory system and leads to better sensory integration and overall brain development. It also helps to foster a love and appreciation for nature, which can lead to a lifelong interest in the environment and a desire to protect it.
It is important to provide children with opportunities to spend time in nature, whether through outdoor play, hikes, treks or visits to local parks.
