Monsoon has arrived and this time the rains are not showing any mercy in any part of India or even the whole world in general. Almost every day it has been raining in most parts of the country and one time or the other, it is likely that you will get wet in rain. But then, being an adult, at least you have a fully functional and somewhat resistant immune system. Your little baby on the other hand still needs to develop their immune system and thus they are more susceptible to falling sick in the rains. Thus, it is important to take care of them even more.

Though the sweet smell of earth after rain and the view of raindrops falling on the ground is mesmerizing, with rains come mosquitoes and harmful bacterias and with them come the illnesses. Yet there are some ways your child can enjoy the rains just the way s/he wants by just following these simple tips.

1. Keep them hydrated

During the rainy season, the children start feeling less thirsty due to the moisture present in the rain which is completely normal. Yet, it is important to keep them hydrated and make them drink water every other hour. Water helps flush out harmful toxins and even bacteria from our system and thus help prevent illness.

2. Keeping the hands clean

The primary root for germs to get into our system is our hands. Children use hands to play, touch unhygienic things and then often don’t wash their hands. Then when they eat food the germs on their hands transfer onto the food and into their system thereby making them ill.

3. Mosquito Repellents

The best way to keep the disease causing bacteria from entering the skin is to not let mosquitoes bite your child. And in order to keep the mosquitoes away, the easiest method is to use a mosquito repellant. Most rainy season diseases like dengue and malaria are caused because of mosquito bites and thus it is important to protect the child from them.

4. Taking a shower after getting wet in rain

Apart from mosquitoes, another major cause for rainy season illnesses is the rain water itself. And children love dancing and getting wet in rain. But since there can be bacteria in the rain water, it is important that this bacteria is removed. And for that, children should always take a shower after getting wet in rain. This way, they can enjoy rains and not get ill as well.

5. Beware of stagnated water

The biggest breeding place for mosquitoes and other bacteria and insects is stagnated water. Most of the time, you will find that stagnant water goes stale after some time and a lot of bacteria and insects start roaming around it. Being near this kind of water drastically increases the chances of catching an illness for the child. Thus, care should be taken that no stagnant water should be in or around your house. And wherever you are storing water, it should be covered properly.

Rains are meant to be enjoyed in the best possible ways. But illnesses can become a hindrance and come in the way of your little child having a time of their life. Thus, following these simple tips will definitely help reduce the risk of them or even you getting ill.
