Eczema is a skin condition characterized by redness, bumps, itching, dryness, and irritation on the skin. The most common type of eczema found in kids is known as atopic dermatitis. Kids suffering from eczema tend to get highly cranky, irritated, cry frequently, and may lose their appetite.
Panchakarma therapy
It is one of the preferred therapies for treating eczema. Panchakarma therapy is based on the idea of removing harmful toxins from the body and supporting/ boosting the immune system. It includes full body oil massage, sweat-inducing procedure, inducing vomiting, purging, and consumption of medicated ghee for approx. 5-7 days.
Herbal remedies to treat eczema symptoms
Ayurveda supports the consumption of a few special herbs to manage the symptoms of eczema. Adding these herbs to an everyday meal can help treat the symptoms and aid in faster recovery. these herbs include cardamom, Triphala, turmeric, neem, and Indian sarsaparilla.
Skin-soothing remedies
Bathing your kids with colloidal oatmeal or ground oat powder helps soothe skin irritation and itching. Soak your baby in a bathtub containing colloidal oatmeal mixed with water for 15-20 mins followed by pat drying your baby and applying baby-safe moisturizer.
Coconut oil, hemp seed oil, and sunflower oil can also be used for skin moisturization.
To reduce inflammation caused on the skin, you can use witch hazel or natural aloe vera gel.
Along with all these different treatments, Ayurvedic treatment also includes a healthy diet or plant-based diet that includes foods that are rich in essential fatty acids, vitamin A, vitamin C and zinc to treat eczema.
