Pregnancy is a natural process. It brings a human being into the world. Sometimes, if the process requires help, then that’s absolutely alright. There might be several reasons why you might have to undergo a Cesarean delivery. However, it is considered to be much healthier for both the mother and the baby if you have a natural childbirth.

We’ve listed a few things you can do that can help you avoid taking the risk of a C-Section or Cesarean delivery.

1. Exercise

Although it sounds impossible, it would be highly helpful for you if you exercise during your pregnancy if you want to have a natural delivery. Doctors recommend that you exercise, but not so much that you stress yourself out, but just enough to break into a light sweat. The exercise is just to ensure that you keep your energy up and prepare your body for what you’re going to go through. You don’t have to do a full-blown workout. Instead, you could just take long, brisk walks, take the stairs when you travel and do light yoga, maybe thrice in a week.

Research shows that women who exercise during their pregnancy are usually less likely to have a c-section. Exercise also helps in ensuring that you don’t have a heavy baby, which is one of the reasons to have a c-section.

Exercise can also help in preventing gestational diabetes.

Now that we’ve given you so many reasons to exercise, it’s time to bring out those shoes and visit that park near your house.

2. Find The Right Doctor

While selecting your doctor and hospital, it is advisable to find a doctor who understands your concern about Cesarean deliveries and also ensures you get the right support for undergoing a natural delivery. Make sure to find a doctor who has a low C-section rate and also enquire among friends and family about the right doctor.

3. Eat Healthy

Pregnant women have cravings and rightly so. But while you’re loading on those carbs, do keep in mind that pregnancy and labour are two extremely demanding and challenging life events, which require you to be in your best physical health. Eating a healthy diet will help you be in the best shape when you have to deliver, and lower your chances of having a Cesarean delivery.

4. Let Your Partner Know

Let your partner/spouse know about the fact that you want a vaginal birth instead of a C-section. If you want them to stay with you during your contractions and the delivery, let them know that you want a natural birth, as they also have to be prepared for it.
