Is it that time of the month again? You can’t run away from periods (unless you are pregnant) and quite frankly you shouldn’t actually wish that your periods never happen because they are a great indication of your health. Keeping aside the stomach cramps, lethargy and the PMS (which is really not that fair) , your period blood can actually help you know how healthy you are and what illnesses you are susceptible to.
Pink coloured blood
If your period blood is pink in colour then it means that you have low estrogen levels. You might also notice that you bleed more than usual if it’s pink coloured blood. This might be as a result of too much stress or exercising more often than you usually did. So take a chill pill and do some stress busters – and you’ll be fine.
2. Watery blood
Due to hormonal imbalance or anemia (decrease in RBCs), you might notice that your period blood is more watery in nature. This can also be because of the type of foods you have. This might lead to painful periods. So if this continues for more than a few months then please do consult your doctor about it.
3. Deep maroon colour
If you notice a dark red colour period blood, it’s because of the production of higher estrogen levels than required. You will notice that your bleeding is splotchy and not consistent. But this is not something to worry about since it usually sort itself out.
4. Grainy textured blood
This is due to hormonal imbalance, more specifically due to high levels of estrogen and low levels of progesterone hormone. Foods like soda, sugar and other junk food intake should be reduced so that the hormonal levels go back to normal.
5. Ashy coloured
Having ashy coloured blood discharge during your periods might indicate an infection. It can be an STD or a STI. This might create complications during pregnancy so consult your doctor immediately if you feel like your blood is a little ashy and not the usual colour.
6. Bright red colour
Bright red colour discharge is an ideal period blood colour. This indicates that you are super healthy and all of your hormones are balanced. So there’s no need to worry about a thing. Continue to do whatever it is you are doing and live a healthy life.
