Chiddiya ghar
I can recall the hindi name of national zoological Park that is 'chiddiya ghar'.. Must go der with your kids.. As name says everything this zoo has got almost all the animals which children can identify.. My son is 2 year old and he really enjoyed der as he got to know animals more.. Now he can easily recognise.. But yes that's up to all your luck whether you get to see all d animals or not..
Dey have got the bus ride inside d zoo which cost 60 rs per person.. You can easily sit and enjoy the ride while checking out different animals points...
You can't carry any food items inside.. Only liquids r allowed.. N yes if you carrying camera with you then for that you have to buy 50 rs ticket before only..
All dez r some rules and regulations of the zoo which you have to follow..
But I highly recommend you to visit the zoo with your kids.. No matter what age.. You and your family will definitely enjoy.
zoo...
We prefer to go to zoo in winters or when the weather is pleasant.. if u want to cover the zoo walking then its tiring with kids so u can hire a car inside which is chargeable. It stops at those spots from where you can cover the view of 2-3 animals and come back to tat car only. Then it takes u to another stop for other animals.. it covers the whole zoo.. you find a map also where you can see wch animal will b found where and some facts about those animals.. their life span etc.. mostly all the animals are easily viewable except lion.. kids really enjoy the zoo and we relive our childhood with them.. food is not allowed inside so dnt think of it.. parking is available.. child friendly place..
With over 1200 animals inside it's campus, Delhi Zoo is the best place, if you want get the glimpse of Indian Wildlife. Tigers, elephants, lions, leopards, white tigers, crocs, birds, monkeys, bears ...you name it ..
must take your toddlers so that they get a view of and knowledge on animals ..
they understand different appearances of them.
Near to perfect day out...
We have been to Delhi zoo in April 2015, when Ishika was 11 month old. First hurdle in our tour was " no food allowed inside the zoo" . Though Ishika was 11 month old , milk only was not enough to satisfy her hunger , so we were inside the zoo only for 2 hours. However our 2 hour tour was unforgettable.
We entered in the zoo at 10 am ... With reasonable entry cost of 40 each n there was no entry fee for Ishika. We avoided stroller inside the zoo because the person on the entry gate suggested us to take newly introduced battery operated trolleys. Trolley ride was good at right price 55rs per head and free for Ishika . Just a suggestion , when you are riding in trolley don't rush to complete the tour. After watching 2 - 3 animals return to the stop because you can step up again in the next trolley , in this way you can have fun at one place for some time.
We were very lucky to see all the major animals out of their den...The major attraction was the white tiger and the leopard. Kids would surely love it and so would you since you may see a rhino running, white tiger or lion roaming or roaring.
Lots of washrooms inside the zoo, just don't go into the parking lot washroom because it was not that clean.
Overall it was a beautiful experience because my daughter was so thrilled after watching so many animals . Just the food part bothered me. However I definitely recommend a visit to Delhi zoo for your kids because I am sure they will surely enjoy.
The Delhi Zoological Park is spread over 176 acres. It is located at Mathura Road, Sundar Nagar and overlooks the Purana Qila. It is open all days except Friday. Timings are from 0930am to 4 pm. We went during the summer months. There were long serpentine queues of people from from neighbouring states and small children who were restless due the scorching heat. No eats are allowed inside. There are vendors inside the zoo selling bottled water, icecream etc. I believe one should avoid the summer months as there is a lot of walking involved. Even though there are battery operated vans operating inside, but as they tend to move fast, one misses out on many enclosures. The park is not well maintained. Kids were thrilled to see many species of animals, mostly being sambhar deer. One could spot aquatic birds like storks, cranes, pelicans. On visiting enclosures of tigers, children were disappointed to see them empty. We were told that due to the extreme heat, animals were resting inside their cages. The stench of the garbage lying in the open was unbearable for kids. On the whole, I would say the Delhi Zoo was an average experience. Better option would be to visit during the winter months.
Definitely must see for children
Zoo brings back so many memories of my own childhood so i jumped on the idea of taking my son there. we were not allowed to carry snacks inside the premises, but thankfully water bottle was allowed.
its a treat for children to see the animals, birds, plants and reptiles they read about in front of them live and roaming. its a huge facility and you need energy to keep up with your kids :).
there is a different section for birds and reptiles. there were cages and security was good. we had a pram along with us, and it really helped us as children might get tired walking around the huge place. Thank fully, there is a shuttle service also, a small cab like service that takes visitors around, stops at spots where animals are. you can view the animals and click the photographs.
The best time to visit the zoo is during the cooler months when the animals aren't so inclined to stay in the comfort of the shade. Otherwise, try to visit when its not too hot.
There is a souvenir shop also inside. Food and drinks are available for purchase inside as well at various points. Maps dotted around the site also help you navigate your way around.
zoo remains closed on every Friday and national holidays.

WHOAAA ZOOO!!!
i recently visited the delhi zoo along with my hubby and my kid.its a huge place whuch enthralls kids and adults alike.as a parent, i was happy to see the safety measures adopted by the managment by installing of bars and cages which are enclosed or at good heights and the gap between the bars is so narrow that no child can try to enter the cages or enclosures of animals.for many animals with a known high leap, which were kept in open enclosures, wide and deep trenches have been made with a very good view.however as a parent i would wish that in an area like this which is so huge, an audio video room may also be added so that kids can learn more about the animal kingdom.trolleys were allowed for the kids which has made it easier for me to enjoy with my kid and hubby.
one can opt for paid shuttle service too.though as a parent i would like to add one point, that zoo should have cleaner toilets, specially at a place frequented by kids and the management should allow visitors to take their food items.lack of bences and trash bins should be installed at regular intervals too to make it easier for people who don't opt for shuttle service.
Cute Cute animals!
I can bet your kids will love this place.. So many animals and variety of colourful birds.. Spend a sunday there and ur kids will never forget it!!
National zoological park
Truly an international like experience. it was so clean and so well maintained. a must for toddlers who are just learning about animals. there is a hop on hop off bus that takes you through the park. You can also take your stroller there. the garden is beautiful with trees and flowers. enjoyable experience. If you haven't been here you are missing out on a great experience. it has everything from swans, bears, giraffes and much more.
Delhi Zoo
I Love this Zoo. It is just amazing! My baby loved it too. The entry is nominal and if you go on a weekday then it is not crowded. There is a hop on hop off bus (extra charges) that takes you to various parts of the zoo. I strongly recommend taking it up coz its very helpful although it doesnt take you in the interior. There is a bit of walking you may have to do. You can take your pram/stroller comfortably. The zoo is very well maintained and is very clean. the garden is beautiful. You can see the animals nicely and its such a wonderful experience for kids. Best time to go would be when the weather permits outdoor walk - Sept -to March
