Prescribes too many Antibiotics

"Dr. Yogesh Mehta is the senior most Paediatrician in the Hiranandani Hospital in Powai. When I was looking for a doctor for my child, I thought experience is the key to a good doctor and a renowned hospital. Dr. Mehta has over 3 decades of experience and he fit into my requirements. Being a first time mom, I did not know the nuances of motherhood and I entirely banked on my child’s doctor to fill me with all the crucial information. When I first met Dr. Mehta, I could trust him very easily. He is friendly and was always happy to assist me over telephone. I thanked my stars for finding good doctor in the first go. But my opinion about him changed very quickly. Each time my son used to fall a little sick, he would prescribe him antibiotics (even when he was 6 months). I would ask him about the side effects of the medicine and he would casually say that it only lasts till you are feeding him medicine and after it has zero effect. I would doubt him, but I thought he knows better since he is such experienced doctor. But very soon, I had enough. Dr. Mehta believes in ruling out everything possible and his answer to everything is a stronger medicine so that the child gets well soon. I agree my child would feel better quickly, had he not been taking antibiotics, but the probability of him prescribing these medicines was close to 90 per cent of my each visit. Also he is a doctor, who believes in giving babies a lot of supplements like zinc, iron etc. after the baby turns 6 months. After going to him for almost a year, I made a conscious decision of changing my baby’s doctor as I thought his medicines were too harsh for my child and did not let his immunity work and build gradually. I would not recommend him."

A decent play area

"I have mixed feelings about this place since my experience was different each time. They have two different sections, one for Toddlers and one for older kids. So the one time I was here I noticed there were too many older kids in the toddlers section which made it really difficult to handle them. Another time I was here I noticed a small kid tripped off the slides and none of the girls were around. Of course they all came around after she started crying and helped the mother with ice etc but I didn't see anyone really take responsibility for what had happened. The good thing about this play area was the Toddlers section which was offering varied rides/games. The cafeteria had some good food incase one had to feed kids. Overall it's a big place hence good for parties and meet up for play dates with larger nos."

Intro to musical instruments

Musical Bonding class is an innovative class which helps in mommy and baby Bonding over the music and with different musical instruments. Me and my daughter we did 3 cycles of the musical Bonding and each one was filled with fun. They introduce different kind of new musical instruments and it's amusing to see how the child reacts to each and every instrument as they see them for the first time. All the songs are so catchy that it just stays in your mind and I kept on humming it for days. They provide you with a book with lyrics and a music CD each season and also give a calendar in advance for the whole cycle. My daughter's favourite cycle was Dinosaurs. Each cycle consists of 10 sessions. It's a fun and musical way to spend time with your little ones :)

Pre-school

"Apart from the education you also want your kid to have a relationship with nature. I couldn't have asked for a more clean and green environment in a school set-up than this one. I like this school for the hard work and effort they make with lots of small things like activities, posting pictures and keeping parents informed, the indoor classrooms, the decor that they keep upto date with different themes in and around the corridors. When I enter this school I feel comfortable and safe dropping my children here. There is a sense of wonder and awe as I sit around the amphi-theatre style seating area near the playground. I am happy to know if it couldn stimulate me, it would be doing wonders for my children."

I am a mother of two toddlers who literally keep me on my toes. I quit my Relationship Manager role in Banking to take care of them. It has been an adventure for sure and they have helped me polish my skills - multi tasking, time management and crisis management😀

As a mom star, I feel it's my responsibility to share my true experiences, especially to help new mothers. I did not have this kind of a forum to refer when my kids were born. In return, I am also getting pampered and learning every day from more experienced mothers.
