I wasn't unhappy with the way I looked or with my weight. But one afternoon, while I was on vacation in Manali with my family, I did realize that I have gained a few extra kilos. We went for a small hike, and during that course, I was panting for some fresh air. It was frightening as well as an eye-opener day for me. I needed to make a change if I wanted to live a long, happy, healthy life. For my health, I decided to shed down those few extra kilos from my body.
I decided to start small and keep it doable. I found an excellent dietitian & did not look back since that day. And as it turns out, starting little but being consistent was a crucial point in my success. I started walking 1 km at a scheduled time every day. The next week I did 2 km. Gradually, I increased speed as well as time. It took me six months to reach 10 km per day.
I had to follow the diet routine suggested by my dietician. I wasn't losing weight at first, but I didn't give up. My whole journey was filled with ups & downs. I used to gain weight even with a little stress.
It was easy for me to give up my weight loss routine as I had to manage my kids and clinic, but my Dietitian helped me to be on track. I had more energy, was more cheerful and I was getting better, physically & emotionally. A fit body seemed like an impossible dream. But to my surprise, after a good long journey of 1.6 yrs, I am 55 kgs. My journey started with 70 kgs, & today I am 55 kgs - fit, fabulous & enthusiastic.
Today, the extra weight is gone. I no longer feel tired & I'm sure I can hike mountains without gasping for air.
My weight loss journey taught me a lot of things. I learned a good & healthy way to eat. I have learned a lot of patience, as weight loss cannot happen overnight. You have to work hard & it takes some time to see visible results.
So, I just wanted to tell you that even though I am a doctor, it was not at all easy. My family was the best motivator during my weight loss journey.
So, are you ready to change your life, just like I did?""
