After breastfeeding, your baby and you step into a different world altogether called weaning. From purees and pulps to mashes and finger food, weaning can be exciting and challenging. Preparing baby food is relatively easy at home, but when travelling, what is a weaning mom to do?
Packaged instant baby cereal is an option, but not exactly the healthiest thing to give your baby for prolonged periods. So here’s a recipe for homemade instant baby cereal, as shared by my pediatrician.
Ingredients:
Process:
First, wash the rice and moong dal separately and sundry them. Roast them separately in a pan and powder them. This powder can be stored in an airtight container in a refrigerator for a month.
Now, take a pan and add some water.
Mix the rice and moong dal powder in it. Stir to avoid lumps. Mix in the rest of the ingredients except the ghee. Bring it to a boil and let it simmer for half a minute to one minute. Add water to attain the desired consistency.
Now, add the ghee and your home made instant baby cereal is ready
Tip: Add the rice and dal powder as soon as you put the water to flame. this will make sure there are no lumps.
Note: The above measurements will give quantity equal to the bowl in the pic.
