What does it take to be a hands-on mom, an entrepreneur and to win the title of Best Indian Face in the Mrs India Earth Pageant? According to Rupal Boke, it is recognizing your passion, prioritising your work and facing challenges head on.

Confident and ramp-ready always, Rupal is an inspiration for many of us who want to look and feel confident even after motherhood. Here’s more about her.

Roots of Inspiration

Rupal is from a small town called Amravati in Vidarbha, Maharashtra. She did her schooling and finished her education from Pune. As a kid she loved sports (Rope, malla khamb, yoga), art (drawing, dance, rangoli), trekking, debating etc. A software engineer by profession, Rupal worked as a lecturer for a few years at K.J Somaiya Engineering College. This teaching stint was early on during marriage. Then she had her daughter, Pari, so she quit her job to look after the baby.

Many used to ask her for fashion tips and styling suggestions, and that’s why she thought, ‘why don’t I start my own fashion business?’ That inspired her to start her own brand, Belle by Rupal.

Challenges

No business is easy. Rupal started Belle by Rupal after her baby. So it was actually a very difficult phase with her being a young mother. But her husband was very supportive of the idea, and that’s what motivated her to pursue her dreams. What’s noteworthy is that she started out gradually. First by being a fashion consultant, then by building her brand and then preparing for the Mrs India Earth Pageant.

Work Life Balance

Being a mother and a businesswoman is difficult, but according to Rupal, if you find your passion and pursue it, you will find time for your business as well as home, because those are aspects where your heart lies.

Rupal was lucky she had both aspects in place, and that helped her pursue her dream of starting her own business.

When women get married early and have kids, they tend to lose a part of themselves. Rupal got married very early too, but that did not deter her from being an entrepreneur. So in her own words, “I would say that if a woman finds her passion and has a great deal of conviction in her idea, then she can get her family into confidence as well. So what I believe is, irrespective of whether it is a popular notion or not, if there is a will, one will always find a way.”

So ladies, wake up everyday and promise to believe in yourself and tell yourself that you’re beautiful, whether you’re a pajamas mom or a evening gown mom. It’s all about being passionate!
