We as women have always taken fashion as frivolous. Sometimes, it is our own idea and sometimes it is an opinion fed to us by our near and dear ones. There comes a time in our lives when we experience motherhood, and during that time we are forced to believe that women should forget the silly nonsense of focusing on their own vanity. But, that should not be the case. Let’s have a look at ways we can survive those times.

It is considered normal that, once a woman gets married and starts a family, she should abandon herself and thoughts about looking good. The crucial difference between when women are single and when they get married, is that post marriage there is no longer any pressure to look young or pretty.

Which is not true, post children the focus anyway shifts completely on them. And ignoring oneself adds fuel to the fire of postpartum depression.

Now, what I am here to suggest may sound nonsensical to a few but then so is monotonous life.

Fashion Therapy or Retail therapy in popular language is a proven practice to reduce stress and burns calories in women. Apart from burning a hole in the pocket which by far is the only con, this has been considered psychologically beneficial. Shopping along with looking and feeling good makes a woman happier and better at managing home front.

A couple of things a woman could shop for is:

Clothes: The ground is, NO online shopping. Go out. Window shop. Try clothes. And buy what you love. It is indeed therapeutic. And when you have a friend accompanying you, life couldn’t be better girls.

Shoes: There is a reason why love for shoes is describe as fetish, because no matter how many sizes you go up or down on your clothes and even lingerie, your shoe size remains ardent to you. It will never make you feel too fat or too lean. So buy those beauties, get them home and feel blissful.

Bags: Your shoulders are not meant to carry just those Diaper bags. Something fancy will always make any of your outfit look fab and add that extra oomph to your personality.

Furniture: This again is my personal favourite. Adding a new piece of furniture is like having a new family member, not just it uplifts your mood, it also gives a fresh look to your home. Which indeed is a must after we take up the role as a mother. Because for me, nothing kills you more than monotony.

So who says shopping is bad. Rather it’s a must in the holy book of survivors instincts for a woman. So stay stylish, stay pretty. And shop to flush those woes and misery moments out.
