Teach them while they’re young is a common saying. Well, this is absolutely true as what we learn when we are small, goes a long way in shaping our lives. Hence, it is very important for parents to teach the right values to their children. Besides that, they must also get the kids to follow a healthy lifestyle. You must be thinking that as children should be allowed to take it easy and eat whatever they want but that should not be the case. The younger ones may not have to be that particular about their diet as adults but nowadays but still some caution must be maintained.

Today our fruits and veggies are heavily sprayed with pesticides, thus killing all their nutritional value. And when it comes to processed food, the less said the better. Whether it’s the frozen foods or namkeens, they all are loaded with salt  and preservatives which makes them extremely unhealthy. This is why they should be eaten occasionally as they raise blood pressure levels and cause multiple health problems.

Another aspect of maintaining a healthy lifestyle is exercise. In fact, doctors suggest that the best way to stay healthy is to eat a balanced diet and perform physical activity for at least 30 minutes every day. Besides that, reading, listening to music and spending time with your loved ones are healthy habits  for a stress-free life. Kids nowadays are so glued to the television screen, mobile phones, or laptops that they prefer not heading out to play. As a parent, you must see that your child is physically active

Tips To Eat A Balanced Diet

Consume around 5 portions of fruits and vegetables every day. Keep the count of veggies higher as fruits are filled with sugar.

Your plate should contain 50% carbs, 30% protein, and 20% fats. The carbohydrates should ideally be the slow-digesting ones like non-starchy vegetables (Cucumbers, Tomatoes, Onions, Lettuce, Mushroom, and Bell Peppers), legumes (Chickpeas, Kidney Beans, and Black Beans), and beans but rice, pasta, or noodles are fine in smaller quantities. Brown rice is a healthier option to regular rice as it has more fiber.

Limit the consumption of white bread, refined flour (maida), and sugar. These food items are heavily processed and lead to weight gain. Sugary food items, in fact, are known to be addictive, so it’s best to avoid them. Reduce your risk of diabetes by cutting out white sugar from your diet.

Alcohol consumption should be limited to a glass a week. But for good health, it’s best to not drink liquor.

Lean meats (Chicken brat, Turkey, and Lamb) are one of the best sources of protein. Vegetarians should eat paneer, tofu, lentils in order to meet their daily protein requirements. If you want to lose weight, eat 1 gram of protein for every pound you weight.

Other healthy foods like oats, quinoa, broccoli, nuts, and seeds must be included in the diet.

Drink around 8 glasses or 2 liters of water daily.

Tips To Maintain Physical Health

Enroll your kids for a sports class. Be it tennis or swimming, playing a sport helps one stay fit. It also develops leadership skills and team bonding.

Get your kids to go down and play. If you live in a society, make sure your child plays along with other kids in the building. This will also help him/her make new friends.

Make your child help you with a few household chores.

Go for a walk with your kid post dinner.

Limit the time your child spends playing  video games.
