Babies should not be given solid foods before they are six months old due to choking hazards and allergies. According to the American Academy of Paediatrics, parents should wait for six months before introducing solid foods to babies.

1. Avocado Puree

Ingredients

Avocado 1

Lemon 1

Breastmilk or formula milk 

Method

  • All you need to do is halve a ripe avocado, remove the pit, and scoop out the flesh.
  • Add it to a blender and blend it, adding breastmilk, formula, or water if needed or desired to thin.

2. Bean Puree

Ingredients

A bowlful of chickpeas, black beans, pinto beans, and white beans mixed

Water 1/2 cup

Method

  • If you are using canned beans, rinse and drain them for the best flavour.
  • Place the beans into the blender along with the water and blend until smooth.
  • Adding additional water as desired for a smooth consistency

3. Blueberry Puree

Ingredients

Blueberries: A handful

Water: 2 cups

Recipe

  • Add the blueberries to your blender.
  • Blend them until very smooth.
  • Add enough water to make it easy for the blender to work.

Ingredients

Kiwi: 4

Water: As needed

Recipe

  • Peel the brown skin from the fruit and add the fruit to a blender.
  • Blend it until very smooth.
  • Adding a little water if needed.
  • You can serve or store it in the fridge for later.

5. Mango Puree

Ingredients

Fresh mango: 1

Water or breastmilk: As needed

Method

  • All you need to do is just add your diced mango to a blender.

Method

Water as needed

Fresh strawberries: 5-6 

Method

  • Wash and pat the strawberries dry.
