Miscarriage, also known as spontaneous abortion, is an event that leads to the loss of a fetus before the 20th week of the pregnancy. Most of the women suffer from miscarriage within the first 12 weeks.

There are no symptoms seen in this type of miscarriage. The embryo dies in the uterus without any signs. This kind of miscarriage can be detected by decreased hormonal levels (hCG).
After the death of the embryo, the body tends to eliminate only some part of tissue and blood. The remaining part of the tissue and other embryos remains in the uterus. Back pain and abdominal pain accompanied with some vaginal bleeding and discharge are the symptoms seen during this phase.
