Menstrual irregularities could be due to polyps inside the uterus, fibroids, increases uterus lining, hormonal disorders, and blood disorders. But besides this irregular or delayed, menstrual periods are also experienced after childbirth or delivery.

The normal time period after which a woman can expect her menstrual period post-delivery is about 4-5 months.

Breastfeeding, hormonal imbalance, and the time required to regain the normal uterus lining are a few factors contributing to delayed menstrual periods after delivery or C-section. Additionally, a lot of women do not get their menstrual period till the time they breastfeed their baby. This delay is completely normal but one thing to keep in mind during this phase is that even if a woman isn’t getting her periods there is still a chance of getting pregnant in that time period.

On the other hand, those who tend to have an excessive delay in getting their menstrual period even after stopping breastfeeding should consult their doctor and undergo a few investigations to know the reason behind the delay.
