Weather change is every mum’s nightmare as it brings along illnesses and diseases that affect babies. Babies are sensitive to these changes in weather as their immune systems are still developing.
There are some great home remedies to protect babies from weather-change sickness, but keeping natural vapour patches handy at home will provide instant relief if your baby has nasal congestion. These are easy to use and are devoid of camphor and other chemicals and will not irritate kids. Plus the natural vapour patches like BabyChakra’s Natural Vapour Patches have ingredients like:
Here are some ways you can protect your baby from illnesses caused by weather changes.
1. Food and drink: Babies who are exclusively breastfed are at a lesser risk of contracting water-borne diseases. On the other hand, babies who are formula-fed or eating solids and drinking water are at an increased risk of falling sick.
Therefore, using boiled water for your baby’s formula and food is advisable. Parents should also avoid giving them water and food from outside. If you are heading out, you must make sure that you carry an adequate supply of food and water with you.
2. Bathing: You can bathe your baby a few times a week during the temperature fluctuations. You can also keep your baby’s wipes handy to clean your little one. On the other hand, during warm and humid weather, a bath can help your little one cool down and feel more relaxed. It is advisable to give them a bath when the weather is hot as it can avoid them catching a chill and also help cool them down when temperatures soar.
3. Clothing: Dressing your baby appropriately is a key in keeping the little one comfortable and healthy during weather changes where the climate can range from cold and clammy to hot and humid within a short time.
Try to dress your baby in light, breathable fabrics and use a blanket to keep the little one warm when the temperature drops. If you are heading out, a hat and a pair of socks might be good ways to prevent them from getting cold.
4. Vaccination: Staying up to date with proper vaccination is one of the top ways to protect your child against dangerous diseases that are more common during the weather changes in the monsoon. Plus, viral and bacterial infections are easily contracted if your non-vaccinated baby is exposed to the virus and bacteria that spread such diseases.
5. Room temperature: It is advisable to maintain the temperature of your baby’s room to around 28 to 30 degrees Celsius. The temperature should neither be too hot nor too cold so that the little one is comfortable.
It is also important to ensure that your baby’s belongings are clean, especially toys as these can catch a lot of dust and germs. You can also use a hand-sanitiser before touching your baby.
