Besides refraining from sexual activities or intercourse till the time the recovery is complete a woman should look out for some signs that could indicate an internal infection like:

· Rising body temperature (fever)

· Urine leakage

· Swelling around the stitches

· Severe body pain

· Lower abdominal pain

· Heavy vaginal bleeding (with large clots)

· Bleeding from the stitches

· Pus discharge from the cut or the stitches

· Foul vaginal discharge

· Pain when passing urine

· Rashes around the stitches

· Sudden episodes of severe headache

· Unexplained depression or anxiety

· Nausea and vomiting

· Flu-like symptoms

These signs of infection need immediate attention and need to be treated appropriately in order to prevent serious conditions.

In addition to these signs and symptoms, a woman may also experience something as common as a loss of interest in having sexual interaction for a short period of time due to changes in the hormones. Hormonal changes may also lead to dryness in the vagina and the area around it.
