After a C-section or cesarean delivery, there are a few precautions to take in order to support your physical healing/recovery and some adjustments to make in the sexual activity for a short period of time.
Besides refraining from sexual activities or intercourse till the time the recovery is complete a woman should look out for some signs that could indicate an internal infection like:
· Rising body temperature (fever)
· Urine leakage
· Swelling around the stitches
· Severe body pain
· Lower abdominal pain
· Heavy vaginal bleeding (with large clots)
· Bleeding from the stitches
· Pus discharge from the cut or the stitches
· Foul vaginal discharge
· Pain when passing urine
· Rashes around the stitches
· Sudden episodes of severe headache
· Unexplained depression or anxiety
· Nausea and vomiting
· Flu-like symptoms
These signs of infection need immediate attention and need to be treated appropriately in order to prevent serious conditions.
In addition to these signs and symptoms, a woman may also experience something as common as a loss of interest in having sexual interaction for a short period of time due to changes in the hormones. Hormonal changes may also lead to dryness in the vagina and the area around it.
