Having a proper meal with all the necessary nutrients is very important especially when you are pregnant. Dinner is also a good time to make up for the nutrients in case you didn’t get them during the day. Here are some things to keep in mind and what you should eat for dinner if you are pregnant.

Pregnancy Dinner Ideas

Have Sautés and Stir-fries

If you can’t spare more than a few minutes to toss dinner together, just heat some olive oil in a pan and throw in some lean protein, veggies and a condiment. Some lean protein sources include white fish, beans, peas, lentils and chicken breasts. This pregnancy dinner meal takes about five minutes and you get a nutritious dinner.

Slow-cooked Dishes

This is another quick dinner for pregnancy and the best thing is it can be made in a slow cooker with just a few ingredients. You can prepare Khichadi, chicken curry, beans, soups and vegetable stews. You can find recipes online if you have a specific dietary preference and enjoy the meals in no time.

Healthy Dinner Tips for Pregnancy

If you follow just a few simple techniques given below, dinner during pregnancy will be easier than you think.

  • Try some shortcuts. Pick some canned beans and fish along with frozen veggies which will save you prep time while you get a nutritious pregnancy diet.
  • You can prepare extra food to save for dinner or even have it for lunch the next day. Just make sure to wrap the cooked meal well and store it correctly.
  • Use your freezer to store any extra portions of veggies or leftovers like sliced roasts and soups, for having ready and easy nutrient-rich dinners on days when you are too tired to cook.
  • Avoid stressing yourself. While it’s important to have a meal that includes protein, calcium and vitamins, it does not mean that you need to have them for every dinner meal. If you already had a healthy day of meals, you can have a wholesome meal that fills some nutritional gaps.

When it comes to dinner during pregnancy, ensure that you avoid eating undercooked meat and eggs. For a healthy pregnancy, do some yoga or light exercise as advised by your doctor for your and your baby’s well-being.
