Sheena Kalia is a Counselling Psychologist and Psychotherapist having completed her Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from Mithibai College, University of Mumbai in 2003. Her passion for both English Literature and Psychology lead her into earning a double post graduate degree. She completed her Masters in Psychology (S.N.D.T University) followed by English Literature (University of Mumbai). Her inclination towards Psychology lead her into pursuing it further and she has been working in the field of Mental Wellbeing since 10 years. She is currently working as a Consultant Psychologist at Indian School of Design and Innovation (ISDI), Parsons, Mumbai and practises at Santacruz west, Mumbai.
She holds certification for Advanced Practicum in Rational Emotive and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (RE-CBT) from the prestigious Albert Ellis Institute (AEI), New York, United States.
Additionally, she has also Completed an Advanced-Applied training in Rational Emotive and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (RE-CBT)with Children and Adolescents conducted by Ann Vernon PhD, President AEI, New York.
She also underwent training to becoming a Play Therapist from the National Association for Play Therapy by Lucy Bowen (UK).
She is currently also training for Trauma Recovery, Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR)
By using evidence based therapies and integrating complementary methodologies and techniques, she draws components from different schools of Psychology and employs what best suits her clients needs and personal circumstances. She helps people deal with Depression, Maternal wellbeing(AntePartum/Postpartum Depression), Anxiety, Anger, Relationship issues, Work-Life balance, Stress Management and Personal Development. She firmly believes that by incorporating mindfulness in everyday life and through learning self acceptance and self compassion, the path to personal growth can be more enriching and fulfilling, giving life, depth and length, thereby giving purposeful meaning and improving the quality of our journey.
Her interests include Music, Dance, Reading and Photography.
As a Mental Health Professional, her aim is to help people develop emotional resilience to navigate life's changes and help them understand the significance of Mental Health. She strives to provide a safe haven where people can discuss and address their challenges without the fear of judgement and feel respected, valued and accepted. She hopes to channel this gained knowledge towards the benefit of individuals that seek help in order for them to optimize their lives.
