There has been a vast amount of medical research indicating that eating a healthy diet produces a more disease-free life.

Here’re some foods which should be a part of your daily diet and help you in keeping active, fit and healthy:

Oats

They are rich in dietary fiber, including soluble and insoluble fibers. One of the components of the soluble fiber found in Oats is beta-glucans which are the major cholesterol reducing component of oats.

Ragi

Ragi is a very good to be included as a part of staple diet as it lot of essential nutrients, amino acids and minerals. Add to this is the fact that these have very low amount of fat content and reasonable amount of fibre. While Ragi is indeed awesome but there is misconception that ragi is good for diabetes patients. As we know, this claim has no scientific basis and in fact it is known to be one of the easiest of the grains to digest. This means that the carbohydrates it has increases the sugar levels faster than other foods like oats.

Bajra

Pearl millet or bajra is said to be a miracle millet with iron content 8 times higher than that present in rice. Other facts about pearl millet nutrition are that it is also rich in protein, fibre, and minerals such as calcium and magnesium. Consumption of pearl millet will help ease constipation issues and any problems with the digestion as well. Because of the nutritional line-up, it can also make for a good Lactagogue. So I hope all these bajra benefits will make it a staple in your kitchen.

Dry Fruits

Dry fruits are traditionally known to be a powerhouse of nutrients. Most of us, in our school days, were told to munch on a handful of almonds  to improve our memory or eat a few dates for breakfast. Mothers and grandmothers would religiously soak, grind and blend a combination of dry fruits to be added to milk and fed to toddlers. These would be based on recipes passed on to them through generations for achieving weight gain and immunity for young children.
