Priyanka and her husband Nick Jonas are enjoying every moment as first-time parents. The two welcomed their first child, a daughter Malti Marie Chopra Jonas, via surrogacy on January 15, 2022.

Ever since then, life has been one fun adventure for them. The two have been travelling around the globe with Malti Marie and recently Priyanka even took her along for the Met Gala, where Malti seemed to be very much at ease sitting on her mama’s lap.

Speaking to Harper’s Bazaar Arabia, Alia said, “My daughter started touching my face. I think that’s the best thing that’s happened to me this past week. Because now when I’m feeding her, she just takes a minute, looks up at me, and starts touching my face. It’s like a romantic moment between the two of us. And it’s literally the best thing that’s ever happened to me in my life.”

We agree with Alia, motherhood is indeed a wonderful journey and even amidst the chaos, there lies an indescribable beauty that makes every second worth it. It is the greatest ride of your life. New mums are in for an adventure of a lifetime! Here’s what new mums can expect in the rollercoaster of motherhood.

What New Mums Can Expect In The Rollercoaster Of Motherhood

The First Year

This is where the magic really begins. In the first year of your baby, you might think you’re just feeding, changing, and soothing a crying baby, but you’re actually playing a pivotal role in the development of a tiny human. Each coo, smile, and clumsy grasp is a milestone to celebrate. Witnessing these “firsts” is like watching a flower unfurl its petals to the morning sun – breathtaking.

Sleep? What’s that? Admittedly, your sleep schedule may resemble a patchwork quilt, more than a solid eight hours. But there’s a secret perk: late-night cuddles. Nothing beats the peace of a quiet house, the soft glow of a nightlight, and the rhythmic breathing of your baby nestled against you. That’s the stuff lifetime memories are made of.

The Toddler Years

As they toddle into their second year, you’ll see the world anew through their curious eyes. Yes, they’ll turn your living room into an obstacle course, but they’ll also find joy in the simplest things – a bubble, a leaf, a cardboard box. You’ll be reminded to appreciate the world’s wonders that we, adults, often overlook.

Here comes the fun part: communication! The gibberish babble will slowly morph into words, phrases, and before you know it, full sentences. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, and sometimes, you’ll wonder where on earth they picked up that word. But hearing them express their thoughts and feelings is a reward like no other.

The Preschool Years

Preschool years are all about discovery and independence. They’ll start to form friendships, learn about sharing, and maybe even get into a bit of mischief. You’ll be their biggest cheerleader, their guiding star as they navigate the world. And let’s not forget about the artwork. From stick figures to colourful scribbles, your fridge will turn into an art gallery displaying priceless masterpieces.

School-age years bring about new challenges and joys. Your little one isn’t so little anymore. They’ll have homework, school projects, and extracurricular activities. You’ll be their tutor, chauffeur, and emotional support. You’ll worry, but you’ll also beam with pride at their achievements.

The Teenage Years

The teenage years? They’re a whole new ball game. Your baby is now a young adult, grappling with hormones, peer pressure, and the complexities of life. You’ll need to master the delicate art of offering advice without infringing on their independence. But don’t worry; you’ll also witness the amazing person they’re becoming. And every now and then, they’ll still need their mom.

Throughout this journey, there will be laughter, tears, triumphs, and tribulations. Motherhood is a balancing act, a never-ending learning experience. And the most important lesson of all? There’s no such thing as a perfect mum. We all make mistakes, and that’s okay. It’s the love, patience, and resilience that truly count.

So, new mums, gear up for this wild, fantastic ride. The beauty of motherhood lies in its unpredictability and its constant evolution. It’s a journey of transformation, not just for your child, but for you as well.

And remember, no matter how steep the rollercoaster may seem, you’re never riding alone. There’s a worldwide community of mums, both seasoned and new, riding right alongside!
