🍌 When a baby turns 6 months , first fruit which strikes our mind are bananas.
Easy to mash , high in vitamins , recommended by Grandparents , doctors ,right mommies ?
🍌 How about instead of spoon feeding mashed bananas , we encourage #selffeeding to the baby.
🍌 No teeth, how they will bite??
Babies have damn strong gums. Have you ever tried to put your fingers inside baby's mouth. Try it now
🍌 Bananas are slippery, how they will hold it??
Peel it half , cut the peeled part from below. It will b easy for them to hold.
🍌 What if they choke?
There is a difference between gagging and choking ( thats a all together separate posts to make) .
But keep in mind babies have strong gagging reflex , they will push the food out from their tongue when they feel they are not able to take it anymore.
🍌 But Why ??
This way baby can #explore it through food play , its shape , its texture and simultaneously learn how to hold it to eat it.
🍌Also it will ease your work mommies of spoon feeding the babies.
Eventually baby will start recognizing its color and name relating it as a food to eat.
🍌Note - It will take days / weeks for the babies to learn perfectly, definitely not a one day process.
Also, get ready to be messy.
