Wouldn't it be better that an osmotic laxative should be given to a child aged 4 years old in diarhea so that he passes more of stools and his infection this way will get out of his body fast and then rehydration should start ?

Being a toddler we cannot work with these kinds of medicines. Now a days the types of medicis have changes as research has progressed alot. The doctor would suggest the right kind of medication depending upon the present condition of the child. The ways to treat diarrhea on a home ground basis would be giving plenty of ORS. Giving small and frequent meals like curd rice or khichdi, which will give him small amount of energy. Recovery will take some time. But if the child then there is no point to worry
